Once soldering is completed on both sides, we clean carefully, coat the solder with protective artificial chemical patina (aging appearance), clean again and wax the window carefully to protect it from oxidation.

If a piece breaks while handling, or does not fit properly, it must be re-cut to fit the pattern.

Up close, you can see how each edge of every piece of glass must be ground to fit the rest, carefully coated with foil tape and fit to the pattern before soldering every line.

On the work table

The project is carefully placed to insure that two sides are square and we work from those to make all pieces fit within the completed rectangle. Copper foil and solder method creates a stronger window, but each piece of glass is meticulously cut, ground and carefully foiled before soldering can begin.

Many individual pieces of glass of various color are carefully hand cut, ground and placed to fit on the pattern.
